# Pull the newest Yelp reviews of a business from its Yelp URL

Paste the URL of a business page on Yelp. reviews.search returns its recent reviews with the star rating, the text, the date and the owner's reply when there is one, plus the business name, address, overall rating and review count. No scraper to run and no blocks to handle.

## How to do it

1. **Copy the Yelp URL.** Open the business on Yelp and copy the address of its page, the one with /biz/ in it.
2. **Call reviews.search.** Pass the URL as place, platform yelp and a limit. The platform is also inferred from the URL.
3. **Read the place block.** place carries the name, address, overall rating and review count next to the reviews.
4. **Sort the reviews.** Group by rating and look for the words that repeat in the low ones.

## Worth knowing

- **You bring the business.** The call reads one Yelp business page. It does not search Yelp by category or city; local.places finds businesses on Google Maps.
- **Recent reviews, not the archive.** The reviews come back newest first, up to your limit, not the full history of a busy place.
- **Read only.** Nothing is posted, flagged or replied to on Yelp. RouterGrowth is independent of Yelp.

## Questions

### What input does it need?

A Yelp business URL. A Google Maps URL or place ID also works and switches the platform to Google Maps.

### Do I get the reviewer names?

Yelp shows a first name and an initial, and the call returns that. Mask it before you publish anything.

### Are owner replies included?

Yes, when the business replied. In this run one of the eight reviews had a reply from the owner.

### How many reviews can I pull?

Set the limit you need; the quote scales with it and you pay for the reviews returned.
