# Search people the way LinkedIn search does, from one API call

Pass titles, companies or company domains, seniority, locations and a limit. RouterGrowth returns matching profiles as JSON with name, headline, current title, company, domain, location and LinkedIn URL. It is independent of LinkedIn: no Sales Navigator seat, no partner API access and no LinkedIn account in the loop.

## The call

[`people.search`](https://www.routergrowth.com/catalog/people.search): Build a people list from filters: titles, seniority, company headcount, location, industry keywords. Returns profiles with current role and company. The lead database answers first, from a fraction of a cent a person and without emails: find them with contact.find, or pin the route that returns a known company's people with their work email.

Price on this network: $0.000374 per profile plus $0.002 per call. The exact quote is shown before every run.

## What a real run returned

Run on 2026-10-16: 40 records in 0.6 s for $0.01696. Personal fields are masked. A people search run on 2026-10-16 returned 40 profiles in under a second; names, titles and employers are masked here.

| name | title | company | country |
|---|---|---|---|
| Za*** | Fo*** | AV*** | United States |
| An*** | Gr*** | Ri*** | United States |
| Ni*** | Fo*** | No*** | not stated |

## How to do it

1. **Get a key.** One RouterGrowth key works from the REST API, the CLI and the MCP server.
2. **Set the filters.** Use titles, seniority, company_headcount, locations, industries, companies or company_domains. company_domains is the precise way to name an employer.
3. **Read the profiles.** Each row carries the name, headline, current title and company, company domain, location and LinkedIn URL.
4. **Add emails if needed.** Rows come without emails; pass the ones you will contact to contact.find.

## Ask it like this

- Find 50 heads of growth at 51 to 200 person SaaS companies in Germany. (`people.search`)
- List the sales leaders at these ten domains, then find a work email for each. (`people.search`, `contact.find`)
- Search VPs of Marketing in fintech, then enrich each employer with headcount and HQ. (`people.search`, `company.enrich`)

## Connect

MCP server: `https://api.routergrowth.com/mcp`

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http routergrowth https://api.routergrowth.com/mcp
```

```bash
npm install -g routergrowth && routergrowth setup
routergrowth run -c people.search -i '{"titles": ["creative director"], "company_domains": ["example.com"], "limit": 25}'
```

```bash
curl -X POST https://api.routergrowth.com/v1/run \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $ROUTERGROWTH_API_KEY" \
  -d '{"capability": "people.search", "input": {"titles": ["creative director"], "company_domains": ["example.com"], "limit": 25}}'
```

## Worth knowing

- **Not LinkedIn's search.** RouterGrowth is independent of LinkedIn and does not use a Sales Navigator seat. Results come from a lead database first, with other routes behind it.
- **No emails in the rows.** The search returns profiles, not contact details. Work emails are a separate contact.find call.
- **Structured filters beat free text.** Titles, domains and locations return tighter lists than a free-text query.

## Questions

### Is this the LinkedIn search API?

No. It is an independent people search with LinkedIn URLs in the rows; LinkedIn is not involved in the call.

### How many people can one call return?

Up to 200 per call; set limit to the number you will use.

### Does it return emails?

Not on the default route. Use contact.find on the rows you keep, or the pinned route described in inspect for a known company.

### Can I search inside one company?

Yes. Pass its domain in company_domains, with titles or seniority to narrow it.
