# Scrape the comments on a Reddit thread by pasting its link

Paste a public Reddit thread link and your agent gets its comments: text, likes, reply count, date and a link to each comment. Authors are returned as handles. The scraping is hosted, so there is nothing to install and no block to manage.

## The call

[`social.comments`](https://www.routergrowth.com/catalog/social.comments): Comments on one public post URL (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit, and replies to a post on X): text, author, likes, replies, time.

Price on this network: $0.00665 per comment plus $0.07 per call, $0.002 minimum a call. The exact quote is shown before every run.

## What a real run returned

Run on 2026-10-19: 5 records in 37.9 s for $0.1078. Personal fields are masked. Five comments from an AMA thread on anti-bot systems in r/WebScrapingInsider: questions on fingerprinting, behaviour checks and scraper maintenance.

## How to do it

1. **Find the thread.** Use a thread you already know, or find one with social.search on a keyword.
2. **Pass the URL.** social.comments takes the thread URL and a limit. The platform is read from the link.
3. **Read the replies.** Each comment comes with text, author handle, likes, replies, date and its own URL.
4. **Summarise or sort.** Sort by likes to see what most readers agree with, or ask the agent to group the questions.

## Ask it like this

- Scrape the comments on this Reddit thread and list the questions nobody answered. (`social.comments`)
- Search Reddit for anti-bot scraping, take the thread with the most replies and summarise its comments. (`social.search`, `social.comments`)

## Worth knowing

- **Top level first.** The limit counts comments returned, so a small limit reads the start of a long thread. Raise it for the full discussion.
- **Handles, not identities.** Comments carry the Reddit handle only. Do not try to tie it to a person's email or profile.
- **Public threads.** Locked threads still read; private and quarantined communities do not.

## Questions

### Does it get nested replies?

It returns comments with their reply counts. Ask for a larger limit to read deeper into the thread.

### Can I scrape comments on many threads?

Yes, one call per thread URL. An agent can loop over a list of links.

### What does it cost on an empty thread?

No comments returned means the per comment part is not charged; the quote is shown before the call.

### Can it reply to a comment?

No. It reads only.
