# See the Google keywords a competitor ranks for, with volume and position

Pass a competitor's domain to seo.ranked_keywords and get the Google keywords it ranks for in a location: position, monthly volume, CPC, competition, the ranking URL and its title, and estimated traffic per keyword, plus the total count of keywords the domain ranks for. ## How to do it

1. **Pick the rival domain.** Use the root domain, such as pipedrive.com, and the location of your market.
2. **Call seo.ranked_keywords.** Send domain and a limit. total says how many keywords the domain ranks for overall.
3. **Sort by traffic.** The list comes back by volume. Sort by traffic or position to see which pages actually earn visits.
4. **Check the live results.** Run seo.serp on the keywords you want to target to see who else holds the page.

## Ask it like this

## Worth knowing

- **Sorted by volume.** A keyword at position 70 can lead the list because its volume is high. Re sort before you draw conclusions.
- **Traffic is an estimate.** traffic is modeled from position and volume, not read from the competitor's analytics.
- **A sample of the total.** total is the full count; the call returns the first limit keywords of it.

## Questions

### Which country does it use?

The United States by default. Pass a country, or a city and country, in location.

### Does it give keyword difficulty?

It returns competition between 0 and 1 and CPC, not a difficulty score.

### How many keywords can I pull?

Set limit to what you need; total shows how many exist for the domain.

### Can I compare two competitors in one call?

One domain per call. Run each rival and join the lists on keyword.
